Game Recap

Thursday night saw an exciting game between the Huskies and the Mahtomedi Zephyrs. The Huskies came into the game looking to rebound from two tough losses and the Zephyrs were coming into the game hoping to continue a five-game winning streak.

The game was tight from the beginning as the Huskies were hot from three-point land and the Zephyrs rode the fortunes of their 6’6 junior forward Parker Fox who had 18 points in the first half while leading the visitors to a 36-34 advantage at the break. The second half was a back and forth tilt as the Huskies battled back from a seven point deficit late in the half to take a two point lead with a minute left. The Zephyrs hit a three pointer on a broken play to take a one point lead with 20 seconds on the clock. The Huskies could not answer and the Zephyrs held on for at 65-62 win. Nick Peterson led the charge with 22 points while Rhys Langums contributed 11, including going 9-10 from the free throw line.

The Huskies are back in action on Tuesday night as they host rival Concordia Academy. The loss leaves with Huskies with a 12-5 record on the year.

Game Recap

The Huskies played tough against the North Branch Vikings but couldn’t get enough shots to go in to win the game. Amelia Zmuda was the leading scorer for the Huskies with 9 and Audrey Stumpf was close behind her with 7. The high highlight from the game came from Nicola McNall who hit a half court shot right at the buzzer ending the first half. The Huskies are back on the court Tuesday night at Concordia Academy.

Huskies beat the Blazers with an impressive final score of 54 to 9!! Savannah Cronk, Ava Marthaller, and Annemarie Jenson each had 8 points, Maya Carlson and Ellen Neis each had 7, Sophie Kellner and Jacinta Wappes each had 6, Binta Ceesay and Jazmine Kaur each had 2. It was an exceptional night for the entire C Squad because EVERY player scored tonight, a team FIRST!!

The Huskies battled a home conference game tonight against Visitation! The score was back and forth a majority of the game and the first half ended with the Huskies down by 7 and a score of 15 to 22. The second half was a repeat of the first half and the score seesawed its way right until the very end. With just 13 seconds left in a tied game, Sammy Skwarek was fouled, sending her to the free throw line. She made her first free throw and the Huskies were ahead by one. Bonnie Zeller rebounded and made Sammy’s second free throw securing a three point Huskie lead!! The Huskies walked away victorious with a final score of 40 to 37.
The Huskies were lead tonight by Bonnie Zeller with a whopping 20 points, Tori Thomas and Nicole Zielsdorf both had 5 points, Allison Flett had 3, both Abbey Koenig-Meehan and Anica Thomas had 2, Dani McDonald, Sammy Skwarek and Kalli Wiebusch all had 1. Thank you families and fans for the love and support tonight!!
The Huskies play in North Branch tomorrow and play away at Concordia on Tuesday.

The Huskies played a great game against the Blazers from Visitation coming away with their second straight victory. The Huskies shared the ball well and many players scored in the contest. The high scorer for the Huskies was Jackie Krieger with 9 but Avery Sutton was close behind with 8. The Huskies play again tomorrow against North Branch.

The SAV boys JV basketball team lost a close game vs. the Mahtomedi Zephyrs on Thursday evening. It was a back and forth game throughout, with the Huskies having a lead at halftime and late in the 2nd half. The Zephyrs execution on offense and ability to knock down their free throws at the end was the final difference in the game. The Huskies were led by Dan Carpenter with 21 points. The Huskies are back in action when they play Concordia-Roseville at home on Tuesday evening.

Game Recap

The Huskies had an away game against Fridley Tigers last night. The Huskies started the game off with a great pace, tight defense and rebounded to hold the Tiger’s small lead in the first half, which ended with a score of 26 to 29. This was one of the few games our teams height was evenly matched. The Huskies started the second half off strong but the Tigers were able to capitalize on their strengths. The Tigers were given many foul calls, giving them many opportunities at the free throw line. The Huskies have battled injuries this season and were excited to have Kalli back on the court last night. The Huskies added a player to the roster until the second half, when Sammy Skwarek was injured. The game ended with a final score of 70 to 56.

The Huskies were lead tonight by Bonnie Zeller with 14 points, Kalli Wiebusch had 13, Sammy Skwarek had 11, Nicole Zielsdorf had 5, Abbey Koenig-Meehan and Anica Thomas both had 4, Dani McDonald had 3 and Tori Thomas had 2.

Our next game is home on Friday night against St Agnes. We hope to see you there!

The SAV JV boys basketball squad lost an exciting game vs. Fridley on Tuesday evening, 48-52. The game was back and forth throughout with the Huskies making an energetic run to finish the first with a Dan Carpenter 3 pointer and a buzzer beating layup by Derek Hergenrader which helped them to a 6 point halftime lead. Starting the second half, the press gave the Huskies trouble and helped Fridley take the lead. Fighting their way back for most of the second half, the Huskies finally took back the lead with 1:30 left to play, but could not hold on to it. The Huskies were led in scoring by Dan Carpenter with 13 and Sam Anderson with 12. The JV team is back in action on Thursday when they play Mahtomedi at home.

Game Recap

The Huskies varsity boys basketball team looked to get back on the winning track Tuesday night as they hosted the Tigers from friendly Fridley. The game started out at a quick pace with both teams scoring on their first three possessions. The Huskies cooled down and the Tigers kept hitting and before the Huskies knew what hit them, they were trailing 37-17. The boys regrouped and reduced the lead to 50-26 by the halftime break.

The second half was a closer affair as the Huskies narrowed the lead to 10, but they could get no closer. Fridley hit their foul shots at the end and extended their lead to an 80-59 win. Aaron Smith led the boys with 17 points, while Nick Peterson scored 14 and Rhys Langums added 11. The Huskies have a quick turnaround as they host Mahtomedi on Thursday night in a section matchup.

Game Recap

The JV girls basketball team played a great game against the Fridley Tigers last night. The Huskies came out with intensity right away and used great passing and tough defense to take the 11 point halftime lead. The Tigers put up a strong fight in the second half and got the score to within five, but the Huskies responded and finished with the nine point win! The Huskies are back in action this Friday at home against Visitation.
